At the Cala d'Or Playa Hotel we ask our clients to help us protect the environment and join us in this initiative by:
- Washing the bed linens and towels only when necessary
- Saving water as it is a scarce resource on the island
- Using air conditioning only when necessary
With these simple measures we will save energy, water, and use less detergent and chemical products.
Water scarcity will always be a prevalent issue in Mallorca, and one of the main reasons is unconscious use by human beings of this valuable resource. A good way to mitigate water scarcity and collaborate with the natural conservation of Mallorca is to limit our use of water, and that is why at Hotel Cala d’Or Playa we insist on saving water with the help of our employees and guests.
Thanks to the financial support of the EU with its NextGen funds and the Investment Plan for the Energy Transition of the Balearic Islands (PITEIB), we have installed solar panels that generate up to 100 kW of energy. With an investment of €100,000 and a subsidy close to 40%, we have transformed our hotel into an establishment committed to sustainability and environmental respect.
For years we have worked hard to recycle all the waste produced from our restaurant, separating organic compost, oils, glass, metals, plastics, and paper. We have two recycling points in the hotel which offer separate bins for each category of recyclable material.
We are one of the few establishments in town which charging stations for electric cars located directly in our car park. At reception you can buy your recharge card.
We work directly with Lavanderías Ilunion whose industrial facilities feature state-of-the-art technology, optimised operating processes, and quality control systems that ensure water, electricity and gas consumption is minimal. We want to continue to take care of the environment and remain energy efficient.
The team features over 5,500 workers, 80% of whom are disabled.
